Abstract

ABSTRACT This study attempts to predict the optimal oil recovery with respect to time and to compare flooding in the well when water is used and when polymer is used. The simulation software used in this research is Eclipse version 10. The polymer application is to change the water viscosity and mobility ratio of the reservoir which can help to recover more oil from the reservoir. Using polymers of different concentration, it was observed that polymer of 0.5 concentration gave the optimal result. In this study, water flooding was used as the secondary recovery mechanism after which injection of polymer was used as the tertiary recovery mechanism. Keywords: Water flooding, polymer flooding, Enhanced oil recovery, optimum oil recovery
