Abstract
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to the Study
Leadership is exercised virtually in every sphere of life including businesses, public service, religion institutions, military, educational institutions and even private organizations. Leadership is an important aspect of management (Ugboro, 2018). Although so many people see leadership as management. But in reality, these terms are different, leadership concern people, that is, the aspect of getting a job done by inspiring, motivating, directing and gaining commitment of people to organization goals, management is a broad concept that involves planning, staffing, coordinating and controlling. The difference between leaders and managers is that while leaders focus on demands and constraints of the moment, managers must deal with internal daily production concerns. Organization needs both management and leadership to achieve the goals of their organization (Carter, 2018). Leadership is one of the major management processes. Leadership is therefore conceived as a process which involves the use of non – coercive influence to shape a group or organisations goal, and help define group or organisations culture. Thus it is obvious that management and leadership are not mutually exclusive as in fact leadership is the highest component management Koontz H. and Donnell C (2019).
Leadership at work is a dynamic process whereby one individual in a group is not only responsible for the group result, but actively seeks the collaboration and commitment of all the group members in achieving group goals in a particular contest and against the background of a particular national culture Cole (2018).
According to Carter (2018), Leadership is a process in which a leader attempts to influence his or her followers to establish and accomplish a goal or goals. It is the process through which an individual tries to influence another individual or a group of individuals to accomplish a goal. Leadership is valued in our culture, especially when it helps to achieve goals that are beneficial to the population, such as the enactment of effective preventive health policies. An individual with leadership qualities can also improve an organization and the individuals in it, whether it be a teacher who works to get better teaching material and after school programs or an employee who develops new ideas and products or influences others to invest in them.

Management: Defined by planning, staffing, coordinating, and controlling.
Synergy: The text argues that both are necessary for organizational success and are not "mutually exclusive."
Would you like me to help you summarize these points into a bulleted list for a presentation, or perhaps help you write the Statement of the Problem that usually follows this section?
