Abstract

This study investigates the Impact of internal auditing in the achievement of financial performance, using Access Bank Plc, Ibadan as a case study. The research aims to assess the role of auditing in promoting transparency, detecting fraud, improving internal control, and supporting informed decision-making within the organization. A structured questionnaire was administered to a selected sample of 45 respondents drawn from the bank. The study employed descriptive statistics to analyze the responses collected. Findings revealed that auditing significantly enhances financial accountability by ensuring proper financial reporting, increasing stakeholder confidence, and identifying operational inefficiencies. The study also found that auditor independence and timely audit reports are essential in reinforcing trust and preventing financial irregularities. Based on these findings, it was recommended that the organization strengthen its internal audit mechanisms, ensure the independence of auditors, and implement audit recommendations promptly. The research concludes that effective auditing is a critical tool for ensuring financial accountability and sustaining organizational integrity.
