SURVEY AND GEOMETRY DESIGN OF ROAD ALONG BIRSHIN FULANI TO MIRI, BAUCHI STATE
Abstract
The project focused on the execution of road surveying for the purpose of road Design along Birshin Fulani to Miri, Bauchi State. The entire project covered the total length of about 4km. the road alignment was carried out and control stations was established along the route at regular intervals as in the specifications. Traverse was run over the stations, while levels were observed along the longitudinal and cross-sections of the traverse lines. All data were gathered with effective orientation from the controls, these were used to produce the plans (with appropriate scale) showing horizontal alignment and profile. The purpose of the project was to carry out a horizontal and vertical alignment along the route to provide the shortest travel between areas. Survey methodologies were designed to achieve the accuracy specifications of third Order in line with departmental specifications and instructions from the practical supervisor. The survey was carried out using total station instrument and three survey beacons (HND22-HND23) of dimension 40cmX40cmX150cm were checked in-situ and tied to the project. A minimally constrained adjustment was carried out in all the station. Results of the adjustment shows the final adjusted grid coordinates and heights of the project controls in UTM Zone 32N WGS84 Datum are commensurate to third Order as the Horizontal Accuracy
