Abstract

This project work assessed the physicochemical properties of borehole water in UNICROSS Calabar Campus. Borehloe water samples were obtained from three strategic locations specifically, Unicross female hostel Unicross water factory and new science block of chemistry department. Samples were collected following laid down procedure of association of analytical chemist (AOAC) and were analysed in the laboratory unit of biochemistry department following standard methods. Results shows that all parameters analysed were within the WHO and NSDWQ standards except pH, Nitrate and Phosphate. The result shows that the borehole water from Unicross requires minimal treatment before use. It was therefore recommended that indiscriminate sitting of boreholes, proper hygiene and adequate mechanism for the restoration of portable water be put in place by the school management to prevent disease outbreak.
