IMPACT OF AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES ON HEAVY METAL (PB, CD, AS, NI, AND CR) ACCUMULATION IN FARMLAND SOILS
Abstract
This study investigates the impact of agricultural practices on the accumulation of heavy metals—lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), nickel (Ni), and chromium (Cr)—in farmland soils. Soil samples were collected from selected agricultural sites and analyzed using standard laboratory techniques. The results indicate that excessive use of fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation with contaminated water significantly contribute to heavy metal buildup. The findings highlight potential risks to human health and the environment, emphasizing the need for sustainable agricultural practices and effective soil management strategies.
