Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is an evaluation of Michel Foucault’s theory of power. Most scholars perceive power as a tool of oppression wielded by individuals, or nations. Foucault on the other hand rejects this traditional conceptions of power as something that is held, accumulated, or possessed by individuals or entities. According to Foucault, power is seen connections that functions through institutions, discussions, and behaviours. Consequently, as against the repressive characteristics of Power, Foucault contends that power has positive qualities and, hence, can be used for good as well.
