Abstract

ABSTRACT This project is the compilation of reinforced concrete structural design and analysis of six bedroom duplex residential building. It is made up of rooms, large sitting room containing comfort rooms, kitchen and dining rooms, from ground floor to first floor. The analysis and design of section is essentially based on British standard code B.S. 8110. One way and two way slab are both designed with respect to the aspect ratio Ly/Lx which represents longer side (Ly) and shorter side (Lx) in each side. The beams and column are framed together with the member stiffness, and moment distribution analysis where used. Generally, reinforcement is provided using design chart from B.S. 8110 part 1, part 2, of 1997 and 1985 respectively. The columns are designed as braced as the walls assured to provide lateral resistance to it. It is design to resist biaxial bending, unixial and axial load and some care designed as either short or slender columns based on their effective length ratio. Isolated pad footing where used at the column base while normal strip footing are provided beneath the block wall. All the result of these calculation have been presented in the form of structural drawing showing details of size of the elements, the amount of reinforcement required are also detailed.
