Abstract

This study investigates the role of local government administration in rural transformation within ABSTRACT Ibadan Northwest Local Government Area, Oyo State. It assesses the impact of local governance on rural development with a focus on infrastructure, economic growth, and service delivery. Using structured questionnaires and Chi-square (χ²) statistical analysis, the research finds that local governments generally contribute positively to rural development, although challenges such as inadequate funding, corruption, and administrative inefficiencies limit their effectiveness. The study uncovers mixed stakeholder perceptions regarding community engagement and public service satisfaction, indicating a need for improved governance practices. Enhancements in anticorruption measures, administrative efficiency, and community involvement are recommended to ensure more effective and sustainable rural development. The study’s findings are critical for policymakers and local government officials, offering actionable insights to strengthen local governance and better meet the developmental needs of rural communities.
