ENHANCED PROJECT SUPERVISOR ALLOCATION SYSTEM FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS
Abstract
The allocation of supervisors to final year students is a vital academic process that
significantly influences the quality and success of student projects. At Sa’aduZungurUniversity, Gadau, the existing manual allocation method is slow, subjective, anderror-prone, often resulting in inefficiencies and bias. This project presents the designand implementation of an Enhanced Project Supervisor Allocation Systemtailoredforfinal-year students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The systemadoptsaweb-based architecture and employs a Round Robin algorithmto automatesupervisor-student matching, ensuring equitable workload distribution, fairness, andtransparency. Developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, thesystem features dedicated modules for students, supervisors, and administrators, enabling seamless registration, project preference management, and real-timeallocation tracking. Evaluation results reveal notable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and user satisfaction compared to the traditional manual process. Byreducing administrative burden and aligning student interests with supervisorexpertise, the enhanced system improves project outcomes and provides a frameworkfor broader adoption of intelligent allocation technologies in higher education.
