DESIGN AND SIMULATION OF A 1KVA MOBILE SOLAR POWER SYSTEM FOR LAPTOP CHARGER
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project presents the design and simulation of a 1kVA mobile solar power system specifically tailored for laptop charging applications. The system integrates a 213V photovoltaic (PV) array, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) buck converter, a 12V lead-acid battery, a 1kVA inverter, and an RLC load representing a laptop's power requirements. The PV array captures solar energy, which is optimized by the MPPT buck converter to charge the 12V battery efficiently. The inverter converts the DC power from the battery into a stable AC power supply for the laptop. Detailed simulation and analysis of each component, including the transient and steady-state behaviors, were conducted using MATLAB/Simulink. The results demonstrate the system's ability to stabilize and deliver a pure sinusoidal waveform, ensuring reliable and efficient power delivery to the laptop. This project contributes to the field by showcasing a comprehensive approach to designing portable solar power solutions, offering insights into efficient power conversion techniques, component interaction, and system stability. The findings highlight the potential of mobile solar power systems to provide sustainable energy for off-grid applications, promoting the use of renewable energy sources. Recommendations for future work include optimizing the system for varied load profiles, incorporating advanced battery management systems, and conducting real-world validation to further enhance the design's practicality and efficiency.
