DEVELOPMENT OF WEB-BASED SPORTS EVENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project presents the design and implementation of a Web-Based Sports Event Management System
tailored specifically for universities and secondary schools. The motivation behind this work stemmed
from the challenges faced in managing sports events manually, such as inefficiency, data loss, and lack
of coordination among stakeholders. The primary objective of this study was to develop a centralized
platform that streamlines event planning, registration, scheduling, results recording, and general
communication between athletes, officials, and administrators. A user-centered development approach
was adopted, beginning with the analysis of the existing manual system, followed by the identification
of system requirements through stakeholder input. The system was designed using structured modeling
techniques, including use case and activity diagrams, while the development employed modern web
technologies like HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, PHP, and MySQL for backend database management.
Security features such as user authentication, role-based access control, and input validation were also
integrated to protect sensitive data and ensure appropriate access. The final system offers functionalities
such as athlete registration, event scheduling, result submission, and report generation. It significantly
reduces the administrative burden on staff, eliminates paper-based errors, and enhances the experience
of all participants. Testing and evaluation confirmed that the system meets its design goals, performs
reliably under various user roles, and provides an intuitive interface for end users. In conclusion, the
Web-Based Sports Event Management System demonstrates how technology can be effectively used to
improve traditional school operations, offering a scalable and efficient solution that can be adopted by
other educational institutions.
