ANALGESIC ACTIVITIES OF MANGO LEAF (MANGIFERA INDICA L.) USING ACETIC ACID INDUCED EDEMA
Abstract
The analgesic activity on the plant Mangifera indica was determined using Acetic acid induced pain edema. The plant extract was tested at different concentration levels, The concentration levels of 10mg/kg, and 20mg/kg,40mg/kg, The extract was also tested against the standard drug aspirin. The concentration level was 10mg/kg, The percentage % inhibition was 21%, at concentration level of 20mg/kg and the percentage(%) inhibition was 31% at the 40mg/kg the percentage (%) inhibition was 42%. The standard drug Aspirin has a percentage inhibition of 84% It shows that plant extract has a dose dependent activity. The standard drug aspirin has a higher percentage (%) inhibition of 84%. This shows that standard drug aspirin has a higher analgesic activity than the plant extract.
