EFFECTS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON ORGANIZATION PRODUCTIVITY (A STUDY OF SEVEN-UP BOTTLING COMPANY, IBADAN)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study investigates the effects of Information Technology (IT) on the supply chain functions of International Seven-Up Bottling Company, Nigeria. The research highlights that IT investments can improve supply chain efficiency by reducing costs, optimizing operations, and enhancing overall productivity. Specific objectives include examining how cost and labor reduction impact supply chain performance and evaluating operational efficiency’s role. Findings reveal that cost reduction can increase flexibility and profit margins but may risk product quality. Labor reduction can provide short-term savings but may weaken operational resilience and employee morale. Conversely, enhanced operational efficiency optimizes resource use, increases customer satisfaction, and strengthens supply chain reliability. The study underscores the importance of strategic IT investments and recommends balancing cost management, labor utilization, and efficiency improvements to ensure a competitive and resilient supply chain.
