Abstract

The persistent instability of electrical power supply, particularly in developing regions such as Nigeria, has necessitated the development of alternative energy solutions. This project focuses on the design, construction, and installation of a 5KVA pure sine wave inverter system aimed at providing reliable and efficient backup power. The system was carefully designed to convert direct current (DC) from batteries into alternating current (AC) with a waveform closely resembling that of utility power. Key components used include a transformer, MOSFETs, control circuitry, battery bank, and protection mechanisms. The design ensures minimal harmonic distortion, making it suitable for sensitive electronic appliances. During construction, emphasis was placed on safety, durability, and efficiency. The inverter system was successfully tested under varying load conditions and demonstrated stable performance, high efficiency, and reliability. The results indicate that the system is capable of powering essential household and small office appliances effectively. This project contributes to the advancement of renewable and backup energy technologies and provides a practical solution to power outages.
