DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN AUTOMATED CAR PARKING BILLING SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The proposed car parking billing system refers to a technology-driven solution designed to manage parking transactions without human intervention. The aim of the study is to design and implement an automated car parking billing system. The motivation that led to the implementation of the proposed system is as a result of traffic issues due to illegal parking in the vicinity, poor maintain listing of cars within the parking lot and inaccurate estimation of cost of per vehicle according to their time consumption. The methodology adopted in this study is the Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. The findings reveal that the system successfully reduces parking-related traffic congestion by accurately monitoring vehicle entry and exit, ensuring optimal space utilization. Additionally, the integration of automated payment systems enhances customer experience by providing a seamless, contactless transaction process. Furthermore, the system’s adaptability to different parking scenarios and its potential scalability for urban areas are emphasized, showcasing its long-term sustainability and ability to cater to growing demands. The implementation outcome suggests that the implementation of such systems can transform urban parking infrastructure, providing a smart solution to ongoing challenges in parking management and billing automation. The expected result is an automated car parking billing system that will enhances efficiency, accuracy, and security in parking management through digital solutions.
