NETWORK SECURITY AND INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM (IDS)
Abstract
This study explores the role of network security and intrusion detection systems (IDS) in protecting computer networks from unauthorized access and cyber threats. With the rapid growth of digital communication, networks have become vulnerable to various attacks, including malware, phishing, and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.
The research adopts a technical and analytical approach, examining different IDS techniques such as signature-based and anomaly-based detection systems. Data were collected through simulation and analysis of network traffic patterns.
Findings reveal that IDS plays a crucial role in identifying and mitigating threats in real time. However, challenges such as false positives and system complexity remain significant. The study concludes that integrating IDS with other security measures enhances overall network protection.
