Abstract

This study examined the place of employee motivation in organizational well-being, using Fan Milk Plc, Ibadan, Oyo State as a case study. The research was designed to investigate how motivation influences employee performance, satisfaction, and the overall organizational climate. Specifically, the study sought to identify the major forms of motivation practiced at Fan Milk Plc, assess the level of organizational well-being, evaluate the influence of motivation on well-being, and determine the extent to which motivation predicts organizational success. The study adopted a descriptive survey design using structured questionnaires distributed to employees of Fan Milk Plc, Ibadan. Out of 65 copies administered (as determined using Yamane’s formula), 60 were duly completed and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentage distributions. The questionnaire was divided into two sections: Section A captured respondents’ demographic information, while Section B addressed research questions on employee motivation and organizational well-being using a 5-point Likert scale. Findings revealed that Fan Milk Plc utilizes a blend of intrinsic and extrinsic motivational strategies, including recognition, training, welfare programs, and competitive compensation, which collectively enhance employees’ morale and productivity. The results also showed that the level of organizational well-being among employees was generally high, characterized by strong teamwork, psychological support, and job satisfaction. Furthermore, the study established a strong positive relationship between employee motivation and organizational well-being, indicating that motivated employees contribute significantly to organizational performance, growth, and stability. Based on the findings, the study concludes that employee motivation is a key determinant of organizational success and sustainability. It recommends that management should continuously improve its motivation strategies through fair reward systems, open communication, and staff development initiatives. The study also highlights the need for balanced attention to both financial and psychological motivators to achieve long-term organizational well-being. This research contributes to knowledge by reaffirming the critical role of motivation in enhancing workplace harmony, productivity, and corporate health. It further provides empirical evidence that a motivated workforce is the foundation of effective organizational performance and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s industrial sector.
