Abstract

Interestingly, this study aimed at the determination of the role of the marketing cooperative societies on the marketing of agricultural products with special reference to the selected marketing cooperative societies available in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. The major objective was to evaluate the role of these cooperative societies in the marketing system of agricultural commodities. Primary data interviewing and structured questionnaires were used to collect the data; both primary and secondary sources were used for the collection of the data. This study also showed that the farmer associations are very important in these cooperative societies in that they help transform the farmers from being price takers to being in more controlling position of the market .
