THE APPRAISAL OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF SMALL SCALE INDUSTRY IN ZAMFARA STATE (A CASE STUDY OF SOME SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES IN TALATA MAFARA BRANCH, ZAMFARA STATE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The development and management of small-scale industries play a crucial role in the economic growth and employment generation of developing regions. This study aims to appraise the development and management of small-scale industries in Zamfara State, focusing on selected small-scale industries in Talata Mafara. The research investigates the challenges faced by these industries, such as inadequate access to finance, poor infrastructure, and limited managerial capacity. It also explores government policies and interventions aimed at fostering industrial growth in the region. Using a mixed-method approach involving both qualitative and quantitative data, the study examines how effective management practices contribute to the sustainability and profitability of these businesses. Findings indicate that while some progress has been made, there are significant areas that require improvement, particularly in the provision of financial support and capacity-building initiatives. Recommendations are provided for enhancing the operational efficiency and long-term development of small-scale industries in Zamfara State.
