ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF A HYBRID POWER SYSTEM FOR POWER EFFICIENCY
Abstract
This work focuses on the design and implementation of a solar/biomass hybrid power
system for the purpose of power efficiency and the impact of renewable energy in research
institute. Consistent electricity supply has been a major challenge for the purpose of
carrying out practical in research institutions. This can be salvaged by the introduction of
hybrid renewable energy sources that i.e the combination of solar and biomass. The solar
which harnasses energy from the sun and converting it to Ac signal while the biomass uses
waste product, putting them under a harsh atmospheric pressure for the purpose of
producing energy by maximizing the energy harnessed from the waste products.
PROTEUS as an aided software is highly effective in the actualization of all simulation
parameters taking into consideration the behavior of the solar/biomass energy system with
an inverting circuit. A DC-DC booster converter aid in the increase in the output voltage of
the hybrid power system. After simulation using PROTEUS, the inverting circuit produced
a square wave output with an output voltage of 12v. Having the biomass system going
through a DC-DC booster, both having the same output voltage. In conclusion, the high
cost of fossible fuels and its effects on the environment has led to the actualization and
putting together this body of work.
