Abstract

The history of the textile industry has grown tremendously due to the people’s energy, tools, equipment and natural resources. In the textile profession, inadequate equipment is one of the challenges encountered by most textile artist: an effort to solve that problem gave birth to this research. therefore, this research is intended to reawaken the uniqueness of the weaving techniques, enriching and sustaining efficient weaving in the society. This research modified and fabricated a two-shaft table loom documenting the materials, processes and observations, discovered during its production. Experimental weaving as conducted on the fabricated loom, using conventional factory-made yarns. The materials used for the fabrication process were locally sourced, and samples from other loom has undergone series of changes from the vertical to the horizontal after which other accessories were added and that include reed, beater, heddles, cloth roller and the warp beam. Findings gotten from this research shows that the two-shaft table loom can weave a long staple length of fabric, depending on how long the weaver wants it. To this extent, the end of this study was achieved through the production of a table loom and experimenting it through the production of some woven fabric that are durable and also portable. This research was a studio base research and it inspire textile. It is for studio use, inspiring textile artist to be more creative and innovatively by indulging in the art of producing equipment to enhance the productivity and efficiency of textile products in the department and society at large.
