Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the impact of human relations as an effective tool on the job performance of secretaries in an organization, with a focus on Abdu Gusau Polytechnic as a case study. The role of human relations, which encompasses communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and empathy, is critical in enhancing the efficiency and productivity of secretaries in their administrative duties. Secretaries often serve as intermediaries between management, staff, and external parties, making their ability to foster positive relationships essential to organizational success. The research aims to assess how effective human relations can influence job performance, increase job satisfaction, and improve work environments for secretaries. The study adopts a quantitative research approach, utilizing questionnaires to gather data from secretaries and administrative personnel at Abdu Gusau Polytechnic. A total of 50 respondents participated in the study, and the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings from the study indicate that secretaries who possess strong human relations skills tend to perform better in their roles, experience higher levels of job satisfaction, and contribute positively to the overall productivity of the organization. The study concludes that human relations is a critical factor in the job performance of secretaries and recommends that organizations invest in training programs to enhance the interpersonal skills of their secretarial staff for better performance and organizational effectiveness.
