DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A CAMPUS EVENT DISCOVERY AND NOTIFICATION PLATFORM: THE LOST AND FOUND MODULE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Losing personal belongings is a common issue, so common that in most places there are dedicated offices to help recover and store these items until their owners can claim them. But despite these efforts, many items remain unclaimed, and it is believed that if owners had a more convenient method of reclaiming their lost items, they would be more likely to retrieve them. This project presents the design and development of a more efficient solution to the problem of recovering lost belongings in a university environment where the existing manual system for retrieving lost items that require visits to a security office is inefficient and underutilized. The proposed solution is a user-friendly mobile application that allows users to report lost or found items and receive updates when their belongings are found. This eliminates the need for constant visits to the lost and found office making the process less stressful and more efficient for users, the staff, and the lost and found office. This study presents a detailed explanation of the problem and how the application solves it.
