Abstract
This study investigates the influence of technology on recruitment and selection in a Deposit Money bank in Ibadan, focusing on social media and internet platform utilization, recruitment quality, employee selection retention rates, diversity excellence, and employee retention rates. A descriptive survey design was adopted, involving all 40 employees of Guarantee Trust Bank PLC, Challenge Ibadan, Oyo State. Census sampling techniques was adopted to select all the staff of the selected bank. Primary data was collected using a self-structured questionnaire, with a reliability coefficient of 0.871. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze biographical data, and multiple regression tested the hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level. The results indicate a strong overall relationship (F = 18.205, p < .001) between leveraging social media and internet platforms and enhanced recruitment quality. Additionally, the analysis demonstrates a highly significant model (F = 29.251, p < .001) for improving employee selection retention rates through technology. Technology, particularly social media and internet platforms, significantly enhances diversity initiatives within the bank (F = 15.180, p < .001), facilitating improved inclusivity and communication. Furthermore, the model reveals a strong relationship (F = 48.205, p < .001) between mentorship programs facilitated by internet platforms and higher employee retention rates, highlighting the strategic advantage of utilizing technology to support mentoring initiatives, thereby promoting stability and satisfaction among employees. The study concludes that technology, such as social media and internet platforms, can improve recruitment, retention, diversity, and employee development in banks. Consequently, Deposit Money Banks in Ibadan should utilize social media, and online platforms to enhance their human capital management practices.
