COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE PHYTOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES OF THE LEAF AND STEM-BARK EXTRACTS OF ANNONA SQUAMOSA (SWEETSOP)
Abstract
This study evaluates and compares the secondary metabolites and antioxidant potential of the leaves and stem-bark of Annona squamosa. Using ethanolic extraction, the research identifies key compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids. The antioxidant capacity was measured using the DPPH radical scavenging assay, providing scientific evidence for the plant's traditional medicinal uses.
