Abstract

The constru historical significance. This method of kiln building has been used for centuries in various parts of the world for firing ceramics, The process involves the meticulous design and assembly of the kiln structure, typically using bricks. clay. and other locally sourced materials, Wood-lired kilns are valued for their ability to reach high temperatures and produce unique finishes on ceramic picees. influenced by the type of wood used and the firing technique. The construction of such a kiln requires an understanding of thermal dynamics, airflow management, and material properties. This study focuses on the mnovative design and construction techniques of @ woodfired kiln, emphasizing the adaptation of traditional methods to contemporary needs. Detailed plans and sketches were developed. and the kiln was constructed following these designs. The firing process was then documented to analyze the kilns performance and the characteristics of the finished ceramics. The construction of a wood-fired kiln not only preserves traditional firing methods but also offers new opportunities for artistic and practical applications in modern ceramics. By integrating traditional knowledge with contemporary design, this project aims to explore the potential of wood-fired kilns in today’ s ceramic practices.
