PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREANING AND MINERAL ANALYSIS OF MANGO LEAVES
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigates the phytochemical composition and mineral content of mango leaves (Mangiferaindica), aiming to explore their potential medicinal and nutritional benefits. Phytochemical screening was conducted to identify the presence of key bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, using standard qualitative tests. The mineral analysis involved the determination of essential minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc using atomic absorption spectrometry. Results revealed that mango leaves are rich in flavonoids and tannins, indicating their potential antioxidant properties. The mineral analysis showed significant levels of potassium and magnesium, suggesting the leaves’ nutritional value. This study highlights the importance of mango leaves as a source of phytochemicals and essential minerals, which may contribute to their traditional use in herbal medicine and nutrition.
