Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the impact of accounting information on business success in Nigeria, with specific reference to three selected companies in Aba, Abia State. Accounting information plays a critical role in guiding managerial decisions, enhancing financial transparency, and improving operational efficiency. Despite its importance, many small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria struggle with poor accounting practices, which often leads to business failure. The study adopts a descriptive research design and utilizes both primary and secondary data. Questionnaires and interviews were employed to gather data from staff and management of the selected companies. The findings reveal that accurate and timely accounting information significantly contributes to profitability, effective planning, and long-term sustainability of businesses. Furthermore, the study highlights that companies with structured accounting systems perform better than those without. It concludes that proper utilization of accounting information is essential for business success in Nigeria. Recommendations include improved training in accounting practices, adoption of modern accounting systems, and stricter financial regulations.
