Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the effect of incentive as a motivational tool on organizational performance in Nigerian manufacturing companies. The research specifically examines the impact of monetary incentives, non-monetary incentives, and career development opportunities on employee motivation and performance. A correlational research design was adopted, and data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 110 respondents across selected manufacturing firms. Descriptive statistics such as mean and percentage were used to analyze the data, while the results were interpreted in line with the research questions. The findings revealed that both monetary and non-monetary incentives significantly enhance employee productivity, reduce turnover, and contribute positively to overall organizational performance. Furthermore, career development initiatives such as training, promotion opportunities, and mentorship programs were found to play a vital role in employee engagement and long-term commitment. The study concludes that a comprehensive incentive system is essential for driving motivation and improving performance in the manufacturing sector. Based on the findings, it is recommended that organizations adopt a balanced incentive strategy that includes financial rewards, recognition programs, and career advancement opportunities.
