Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the relationship between knowledge management practices and product innovativeness in the Nigerian oil and gas sector, with a specific focus on firms operating in Port Harcourt. It examines how content creation, content sharing, and content utilization impact product innovation. The research employed a quantitative survey method, collecting data from 270 respondents including managers and supervisors in selected oil and gas companies. The analysis, conducted using correlation and regression techniques, revealed significant positive relationships between each of the three knowledge management dimensions and product innovativeness. Among these, content utilization showed the strongest correlation, underscoring its critical role in translating organizational knowledge into innovative outcomes. The findings are supported by the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory and the Innovation Adoption Model, both of which emphasize the strategic importance of knowledge as a resource for innovation and competitive advantage. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on knowledge management and innovation, particularly in developing economies, and offers practical recommendations for enhancing organizational innovation through strategic knowledge practices.
