DIETARY EFFECTS OF BIO-ENCAPSULATED PHYTOGENES ON PATHOGENIC STRESSOR IN AFRICAN CATFISH(CLARIASGARIEPINUS)
Abstract
This study assessed the dietary effects of bioencapsulated phytogenes on Africancatfish (Clarias gariepinus) subjected to pathogenic stress induced by Aeromonas
hydrophila. The aim was to evaluate the influence of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) andJute (Corchorus olitorius) leaves as phytogenic feed additives on growth performance, nutrient utilization, haematological parameters, and physiological stress biomarkers inAfrican catfish. Data were collected over a 56-day period,on growth performance, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and survival rates, alongside haematological andbiochemical analyses to assess the health and stress responses of the fish. Results
indicated that fish fed phytogenic diets, especially those supplemented with Moringaleaf, showed the most significant improvements. Moringa-fed fish exhibitedasuperior FCR of 0.94, indicating better feed efficiency compared to Jute-fed fish (1.92)
and the control group (p
