THE RELATIONSHIP OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, CAREER AND ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
This research explores the relationships between contemporary training and development (TD) programs, career development (CD), organizational development (OD), and human resource development (HRD) within the context of Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA). The study aims to assess the alignment of training programs with HRD, investigate the impact of career development on HRD, and explore the relationship between organizational development and HRD. Utilizing a cross-sectional, correlational research design, data will be collected through a structured questionnaire administered to the 151 employees of BASEPA. The questionnaire design will align with the research objectives, ensuring clarity and relevance. Regression analysis will be employed to analyze the data, offering valuable insights into the dynamics between the variables. The results reveal a positive and significant relationship between contemporary training and development programs (TD) and HRD, emphasizing the crucial role of skill enhancement and knowledge acquisition in fostering overall human resource development (Smith et al., 2020). Similarly, the positive impact of career development programs (CD) on HRD underscores the importance of providing employees with opportunities for career growth and advancement (Jones & Brown, 2018). Unexpectedly, the negative relationship between organizational development programs (OD) and HRD raises critical questions about the current design and implementation of OD initiatives. Organizations are encouraged to reassess the objectives and methods of their OD programs to ensure alignment with and complementation of broader HRD strategies (Williams, 2019). Recommendations for organizations and HR practitioners include strategically aligning training and development programs with HRD goals, enhancing career development opportunities, and critically reviewing and refining organizational development strategies to ensure alignment with broader HRD objectives. These recommendations aim to guide organizations in fostering a holistic approach to human resource development, contributing to both employee satisfaction and organizational success.
