Abstract

This project focuses on the upgrade of the solar power system installed in the department building through a decision based strategic selection of materials. The upgrade involved adding four 300W monocrystalline solar panels to the existing setup, increasing the total number of panels to eight. Monocrystalline panels were used because they provide higher efficiency, space savings, greater durability, and reliable performance in various environmental conditions. A 100A charge controller was integrated to optimize energy management, ensuring efficient charging and system protection. Additionally, four 48V 220Ah batteries were employed to store energy, supporting a continuous power supply even during low or no sunlight conditions. To manage the energy distribution, a 5.0kVA 48V inverter was incorporated, enabling the conversion of stored energy into usable power for office operations. The project was successfully implemented. This upgrade significantly improves the department energy sustainability and highlights the importance of careful material selection in optimizing solar panel installations.
