Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the relevance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities in modern academic library settings, using Abdu Gusau Polytechnic library as a case study. ICT has transformed how academic libraries operate, making information access faster, easier, and more reliable. The objectives of the study were to assess the availability of ICT facilities in the library, examine how these facilities are used, evaluate their impact on academic research and learning, and identify the challenges affecting their effective utilization. Based on the findings, the study recommends increased investment in ICT infrastructure, the adoption of alternative power solutions, regular ICT training for users and staff, and strategic collaborations to enhance the library’s technological capacity. The study concludes that ICT facilities are crucial for modern academic libraries, and their full potential can only be realized through sustained improvements in infrastructure and user support.
