Abstract

This study examines the access and utilization of online reference materials among Faculty of Education students at Sa’adu Zungur University Bauchi. The research aims to identify patterns of access to online academic resources, factors influencing their utilization, and challenges students face when using these materials. The study highlights the importance of digital resources in supporting students’ learning and research activities. Findings indicate that although students have access to various online reference materials, several challenges limit their effective utilization. These challenges include limited technical knowledge, unstable internet connectivity, and difficulty navigating complex online platforms. The study further reveals that improved digital literacy, better internet infrastructure, and user-friendly online systems can significantly enhance students’ engagement with digital academic resources. The research adopted a quantitative approach using questionnaires distributed through Google Forms to collect data from respondents. The results emphasize the need for universities to promote digital literacy and provide adequate technological support to ensure that students maximize the benefits of online reference materials for academic and research purposes.
