EFFECT OF WATERING REGIME FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PARKIA BIGLOBOSA AT NURSERY STAGE

As this research work was carried out at nursery of Forestry department, of forestry technology, Audu Bako College titled “effect of watering regime for the establishment of Parkia biglobosa at nursery stage” which involves four (4) treatments of water regimes (i.e., morning and evening daily, once in 2 days, morning daily and lastly evening daily). And the experiment was conducted in CRD (Completely Randomized Design) with four (4) replications, four (4) treatments in such a way that there are 4 × 4 = 16 plots per replication as the seeds sown per polypots are three (3). And finally, 36 seeds were sown in black colored 25×10 cm in size polypots, filled to about four fifth with compounded potting mixture of sand, loamy soil and animal dung at 2:1:1 ratio respectively mixed with 3% neem cake, after seed collection, seed extraction, seed viability test and seed treatment by using hot water method. Therefore, the water regimes(treatments) were compared statistically by using ANOVA table at 5% alpha level as a tool of analysis and DMTR as a tool of means separation based on; mean germination percentage, mean height of the seedlings per treatment, mean collar diameter of the seedlings per treatment, average number of leaves appeared per treatment, mean shoot fresh weight of seedlings per treatment, mean root fresh weight of per treatment, mean shoot oven dried weight of the seedlings per treatment, mean root oven dried weight of the seedlings per treatment as variables.
