Abstract

This research project was conducted to examine the "Effect of Repackaging of products on sales volume using a case study of Nestle Nigeria Plc, Aba. The main objective of this study was to ascertain the effect of repackaging of products on sales volume. Three research questions and hypotheses were formulated for the study. The survey design was adopted for the study. The population of this study was 600 and the sample size was 240, Taro Yamane formula was used to determine the sample size. Primary and secondary method of data collection were employed. While the Chi-square technique was used to test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that repackage shape, repackage size and repackage choice does not have any significant impact on sales volume. Therefore, the researcher concluded that for sales to increase significantly, repackaging has to be complemented with good quality, fair price and acceptable messages on ads knowing that a bad product with good package may at best attract a onetime buyer, but will not encourage long time patronage. It was recommended that firms should seriously improve on the quality of their products as they repackage them attractively especially those that are experiencing declining sales. This is with a view of re-positioning them and re-launching them into the path of sustainable growth.
