COST CONTROL AND PERFORMANCE OF QUOTED MANUFACTURING FIRMS IN NIGERIA (A STUDY OF COCA COLA BOTTLING COMPANY, ENUGU)

ABSTRACT This research work was focused on "Impact of Capital Budgeting on the Growth of a Manufacturing Firm: A Study of Seven-Up Bottling Company, Aba. as the researcher's area of study. The problems that necessitated this research work are poor strategic decision preferred by companies, poor organizational investment growth rate, ascertain whether capital budgering has the principles and techniques to make and high operational cost. The objectives of the study were to: decisions preferred by companies, determine the extent to which capital budgeting significantly affect organizational investment growth rate, and examine the extent to which capital budgeting decision influence the operational cost of an organization. The research population size was 250. Taro Yamane formular was used to determine the sample size of 154. The questionnaires distributed were malyzed using tables of percentages and Chi-square (x) statistical tool. Findings f the research work showed that there is significant relationship between udgeting and profitablity of manufacturing gnificantly affects organizational investment growth rate, and capital budgeting cision influences the operational cost of an organization. The researcher hence, acluded that capital budgeting has significant impact on the growth of a mufacturing firm. The researcher further recommended that the management of businesses in Nigeria should adopt a budgetary system of adequate planning r strict adherence to implementation, that cuts across the finance, production,inistration, marketing etc.; also, the finance department should review all ing standards and introduce measures that will tighten the internal control to prevent leakages of financial resources.
