IMPROVED METHOD OF STUDENT COURSE REGISTRATION SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF FPA REGISTRATION)
Abstract
The course registration process at tertiary institutions is critical to ensuring students enroll in their required courses efficiently and accurately. However, the traditional manual and semi-automated systems often lead to delays, inaccuracies, and operational inefficiencies. This project, titled "Improved Method of Student Course Registration System (A Case Study of FPA Registration)," focuses on developing a web-based system that streamlines the course registration process at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti (FPA). The system is designed to address the limitations of the existing manual approach by introducing automation, an intuitive user interface, and a centralized database for real-time data processing. The system was developed using PHP for server-side scripting, MySQL for database management, and front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a responsive and user-friendly interface. The implementation follows a client-server architecture, allowing seamless interaction between students, administrators, and the database. Key features include student authentication, course selection, administrator approval workflows, and report generation. The system underwent rigorous testing for functionality, performance, and security to ensure reliability. By improving the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of the registration process, the system is expected to significantly reduce administrative workload and enhance the overall user experience for both students and staff. This project contributes to the broader goal of leveraging technology to improve educational processes and enhance institutional management systems.
