Abstract

This study investigates the effect of fin geometry on heat transfer performance under varying loading conditions. Four geometries of copper finned condenser (square, triangular, rectangular, and hollow circular) were developed and experimentally evaluated at ambient temperature, 40 °C, and 50 °C respectively using a custom-built datalogger for synchronized multi-point temperature measurement. Results revealed that geometry significantly affects fin efficiency: Square fins absorbed more heat but retained higher temperatures at elevated loads; Triangular and Rectangular fins showed moderate behavior; while Hollow Circular fins consistently recorded the lowest fin temperatures, indicating superior thermal dissipation. The findings establish Hollow Circular geometry as the optimal design for effective heat transfer in refrigeration applications. The work contributes empirical data and methodological innovations that can inform the development of improved thermal management systems.
