INVITRO ANTI-OXIDANT AND ANTI-DIABETIC EVALUATION OF METHANOL EXTRACT OF CROTON ZAMBESICUS LEAF.
Abstract
Medicinal plants have gained attention due to their potential therapeutic properties. This study evaluates the in vitro antioxidant and anti-diabetic activities of methanol extract of Croton zambesicus leaves. The extract was prepared using standard extraction methods and subjected to antioxidant assays such as DPPH radical scavenging and ferric reducing power tests. Anti-diabetic activity was assessed using enzyme inhibition assays, including α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition. The results showed that the extract exhibited significant antioxidant activity and moderate inhibitory effects on carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes. These findings suggest that Croton zambesicus possesses bioactive compounds with potential for managing oxidative stress and diabetes.
