Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examined the growth and yield of celosia (Celosia argentea Linn.) as influenced by Mark Pure fertilizer and urea integration in Ogbomoso, Nigeria. A pot experiment was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm of the Department of Crop Production and Soil Science, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. Six fertilizer treatments were used: T0 (control, no fertilizer), T1 (100% urea at 300 kg N/ha), T2 (75% urea + 25% Mark Pure fertilizer), T3 (50% urea + 50% Mark Pure fertilizer), T4 (25% urea + 75% Mark Pure fertilizer), and T5 (100% Mark Pure fertilizer at 4 tons/ha). The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Data were collected on growth and yield parameters including plant height, number of leaves, stem girth, root fresh and dry weights, and shoot fresh and dry weights. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and means were separated using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% probability level. The results showed that treatment T3 (50% urea + 50% Mark Pure fertilizer) produced the best growth and yield performance. Therefore, it is recommended for improving celosia production and soil fertility in the study area.
