Abstract

Information security has become one the most significant problems in data communication, as the use of internet among public masses and the abundant availability of public and private digital data keeps growing each day. In order to ensure that our secret communication is secured, as the integrity of a secret information is built on security, the main focus of this research is to conduct a detailed literature review on information security techniques and obtain a good background on the strength and weaknesses of each technique to build an improved security system. Then, we develop an information security system that allows users to send text as secret message, using an audio wave file as the cover media. This research work is to employ a cryptographic algorithm (Rivest Shamir Adleman - RSA) with Audio Steganography technique to development the system. The research methodology used is Spiral Lifecycle Model as it allows prototyping and early identification of risks. The system is implemented using C#programming language. The combination of Steganography and Cryptography provides some level of security to the communication system for secret information.
