PREPARATION OF ACTIVATED CARBON ADSORBENT FROM BANANA PEELS FOR THE REMOVAL OF RHODAMINE-B FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION.
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this work is to prepare Banana peels activated carbon for the efficient removal of rhodamine-B dye form aqueous solutions. By chemically activating banana peel, an easily accessible agricultural waste with substance such phosphoric acid activated carbon was created. Using method like BET analysis and FTIR spectroscopy, the surface area, pore structure and functional groups of the activated carbon were evaluated.
Adsorption test were carried out to assess the activated carbon derived from Banana peels ability to contact rhodamine-B. Adjusting variables including pH contact duration and adsorbent dose allowed for the optimization of the Adsorption process. The outcomes shown that activated carbon made from Banana peels has a high ability to absorb rhodamine-B making it affordable and environmentally friendly absorbent for the removal of water treatment.
