Abstract

This study examined the use of impact of advanced materials technology on structural integration in building construction, focusing on their types, benefits, challenges, awareness levels, and measures to promote their adoption. Data was collected from 59 respondents and analyzed using frequency and percentage distributions. The findings revealed that fiber-reinforced concrete, self-healing concrete, and cross-laminated timber were the most commonly mentioned materials, with a majority of respondents (54.2%) indicating frequent or very frequent use. Most participants (74.6%) agreed or strongly agreed that sustainable materials have a positive impact, with higher resistance to cracks, longer lifespan, and enhanced energy efficiency identified as key benefits. However, high cost, limited availability, lack of technical know-how, and resistance to change were reported as major barriers to adoption. Awareness levels were generally high, and subsidies or tax incentives, training programs, and government procurement inclusion were suggested as the most effective measures to encourage adoption. The study concludes that while the perception and awareness of sustainable building materials are strong, financial, technical, and supply-related barriers must be addressed to enable broader industry integration.
