Abstract

Abstract Nigeria local method of maize roasting is prone to high operating stress, uneven roasted maize, high greenhouse effect, low hygienic level and higher time per roast operation, this charcoal corn roaster was designed to explore modern method that can drastically reduce these challenges. The charcoal corn roaster consists of a frame, roasting unit, charcoal tray and air blowing unit. The performance evaluation of the machine was not carried out due to lack of fresh maize (off season). When evaluated the corn roaster can effectively address the need of small and medium scale maize roasting vendors.
