Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the role of mass media in agricultural development in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State. The research focuses on how mass media channels such as radio, television, newspapers, and digital media contribute to the dissemination of agricultural information among farmers. Data for the study can be collected through questionnaires and interviews with farmers in the study area. Findings from related studies show that mass media, especially radio, plays a significant role in informing farmers about modern farming techniques, weather conditions, pest control, and market opportunities. However, challenges such as illiteracy, poor electricity supply, and limited access to media devices hinder effective communication. The study recommends improved rural communication infrastructure and the use of local languages to enhance agricultural productivity.
