DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A THREE PHASE DIGITAL TRANSMISSION LINE TRAINER SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The 3 Phase Digital Transmission line Trainer is designed with flexible characteristics suitable for use in power and machine laboratories by University students. In this project work, the design and implementation of a Three-phase Digital Transmission line trainer is presented, with the aim to carry out Voltage Regulation Test, Characteristic Impedance, and Transmission line Efficiency Test of a transmission line. To actualize the aim of this project work, the components needed for the design and construction of the three phase digital transmission line trainer is reviewed. The three phase transmission line trainer is designed using ATMEGA328 micro-controller. The trainer is designed and limited to 250V, 50Hz for single phase and 415V for three phase primary input voltage respectively with a maximum load capacity of 1KW power. The Trainer was constructed and incorporated with the necessary instruments used to implement the above mentioned tests. It will also demonstrate the operation and performance of a single-phase transmission line and three phase transmission line. It was constructed according to specification, tested and found to give reliable results on test performed with high efficiency.
