worker motivation all play essential roles in performance (Tampi et al., 2022). Different
studies show a positive impact of training programs on employees’ productivity. Learning
as a process is one of the most common methods for increasing individual productivity
and transferring organisational goals to staff (Ahmadi, 2019).
The current study was necessitated by the a made study by Wanjala, (2015), which
asserted that in Mumias Sugar Company, most unskilled workers rise up to positions that
require specific skills with specific duties. Even some cane cutters find themselves in
positions requiring skills, therefore the need for on-the-job-training.
The study particularly focuses on the case of selected delight hotel in Ado Ekiti. It will
also help to clarify on how the research will make a contribution toward the area of
training.
1.2. Statement of the Problem
Some organizations in Nigeria do not engage in proper training and development
of its staff, resulting to low productivity and poor organizational performance. In most
cases, these organizations are not fully aware of the impacts of employee training and
development on the performance of their organization, and thus they do not undertake
training and development exercises for their employees.
According to Cole (2002), ill-trained employees will definitely be less productive,
as they do not have the necessary and complete skills and knowledge to achieve maximum
performance in the organization. Training of employees must be implemented in every
organization that wishes to succeed, since training enhances skills, knowledge, attributes
and competencies and ultimately worker performance and productivity in organizations.
Studies of Wenham et al., (2014) indicated that while employee training affects employee
performance in a positive way training and performance they have also related positively.
However, the scholars rather than describing which type of training has an effect on
employee performance they discussed the effect of training on employee performance in
general.
Therefore, it seems that on the job training has effect on the various existing,
effectiveness and limitation on employee’s performance in Delight Hotel Ado Ekiti, Ekiti
